Poetry - ink with a heart

I'd forgotten how much I love poetry. It's so beautiful and manages to wonder in amazement at the world God created & express how I feel in vibrant, meaningful, and sometimes life-changing ways. I read part of a book by Donald Miller. He wrote about the power of poetry in the Bible, and how God used it to reveal truth. Sometimes mere words can't express what we feel with our emotions, so let's just create poetry.

Valentines Day was a couple weeks ago. Something says love to a girl who gets a sappy love poem from their honey. Their kinda like roses. Roses are pretty, they smell good, they're romantic. They're not too practical though, and they might seem a little cheesy, but I love them just the same. I'd rather get a dozen roses if not just to smell and see their beauty. Ya, a rose is that powerful :) lol... But guess what, a poem can tell ALOT more than a flower can.

Today, the falling snowflakes were almost as big as my big toe (I might be exaggerating, but they were huge) On my way out of class, the icy wind hit me before I even stepped out the door. Immediately, I distastefully wrapped my coat tighter to my shivering body, and sped down the sidewalk to the nearest building. It was only when I took the chance to look up that I noticed the severe beauty of it all. Ironically, being as cold as I was, I longed to walk a longer distance. So I did! I took a couple sidewalks in the wrong direction and enjoyed the fluffy snowflakes hitting my face and sticking to my curls. It wasn't even just my own bubble of happiness that amazed me as much the big picture caught my dazzled eyes. The world was being attacked by beauty. Sounds funny, but looking up into the sky reminded me of my Creator...

I found this verse:
Psalm 9:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."
Poetry written by David in the Psalms reminded me of God's glory and the works of His hand. It made me appreciate the snow more than I ever would have on the freezing winter day.

A good friend (Jon Hill) also reminded me of the beautiful poetry I've been missing..He commented with Henry David Therau -
"How full of the creative genius is the air in which these are generated! I should hardly admire more if real stars fell and lodged on my coat"
(that's gorgeous, that's all I have to say)

~All for the glory of God~
